VETERANS
Keeping Your Independence
Falls are a main reason why older adults lose their independence. To address this concern, efforts have been made to provide federal and provincial programs which can help older adults reduce their risk of sustaining fall-related injuries. This includes a variety of services for Canadian veterans and their family.
In Canada, a Veteran is any person who is serving or who has honorably served in the Canadian Armed Forces, the Commonwealth or its wartime allies, or as a Regular Member of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, or as a Peace Officer in a Special Duty Area or on a Special Duty Operation, or who has served in the Merchant Navy or Ferry Command during wartime.

Did you know that you could qualify for home care services to help you remain independent and self-sufficient in your own home and your community? The Veterans Independence Program provides annual tax-free funding for services such as grounds maintenance, housekeeping, meal preparation, personal care, and professional health and support services.
This national program does not replace other federal, provincial or municipal programs. Instead, it is intended to work with those programs to help meet your needs. For more information, please click on the following link.
